The executive team led by CEO Kirit Desai brings decades of experience and vision to the execution of cost-effective technology and business solutions for clients
Mr. Eggers has been Derive Technologies’ SVP – Solutions since 2000.
He leads Derive’s dedicated healthcare practice and is responsible for developing healthcare solution offerings as well as identifying and championing strategic alliances with providers of unique products and services . Mr. Eggers currently is working on a kiosk-based temperature scanning solution that can be used in public spaces of hospitals (and commercial buildings) that integrates wide-area thermal scanners with intelligent discrimination software—the purpose of which is to identify people with elevated body temperatures entering a public space, earmarking them for follow-up actions. He also is working on a number of IoT-related projects involving patient point-of-care devices (specifically, medical carts and the computing devices mounted on same).
Mr. Eggers co-founded a predecessor company to Derive in the mid-1980s and in his role with that firm was involved in nascent computer networking with Novell, 3-Com, IBM, Microsoft and many others, and ultimately became responsible for its national service organization. When this company was acquired by MicroAge, he was made Regional Service Director, overseeing all services in the Northeast.
A longtime volunteer with the Greater New York Red Cross, Mr. Eggers has been a Shelter Manager with a NY-based on call team (PROTeam), and is a licensed Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) driver. In addition, he is registered nationally with the Disaster Service Human Resources (DSHR) network and has extensive Red Cross and FEMA training.
Educated at New York University and Columbia University, Mr. Eggers holds degrees in Computer Science and Politics. He also studied and performed research in Social Psychology pertaining to group interactions in the Internet and other virtual environments.
Mitchell Martinez
Executive Vice President
Mr. Martinez has been Derive Technologies’ Executive Vice President since 2000. He gained critical business experience serving in various executive technology roles since 1984, supporting companies such as JPMorgan Chase and American Cyanamid Corporation (now American Home Products). Prior to Derive, he was an officer at MicroAge, Inc., a Fortune 500 technology company.
Mr. Martinez has been instrumental in developing Derive’s overall business technology and professional service offerings, implementing a comprehensive sales methodology, and identifying and championing long-term, trusted relationships with strategic alliance partners. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Brooklyn College, the City University of New York (CUNY).
Darius “Staffy” Stafford
Chief Technology Officer
Mr. Stafford is a leading technology expert with over 30 years of industry experience. Mr. Stafford previously worked at ComputerLand, leading technology initiatives before transitioning to Derive Technologies as CTO in 2000.
Mr. Stafford has been instrumental in driving Derive Technologies’ technology strategy and vision, overseeing the development and implementation of innovative solutions for a diverse range of business clients. He leads a team of experts who specialize in integrating technology from multiple vendors to create customized solutions that meet the unique needs of each client.
With his deep understanding of the latest industry trends and emerging technologies, Mr. Stafford is skilled at identifying and evaluating new technology solutions that can provide a competitive advantage for his clients. He has a strong track record of delivering projects on time and within budget and is adept at leading cross-functional teams and coordinating with multiple vendors to ensure seamless integrations.
He also is an active contributor to the open-source community and enjoys mentoring and training new team members and engineers. He maintains strong relationships with top-tier vendors and partners in the industry, including Cisco, Dell, Microsoft, HPE, Nutanix, Citrix, and many others.
Mr. Stafford holds prestigious industry certifications from Derive’s major alliance partners as well as from the Project Management Institute (PMI) and the American Management Association (AMA).
Kirit Desai
Chief Executive Officer
In 1981, Mr. Desai founded a predecessor to Derive in lower Manhattan that grew into a recognized leader in corporate and government technology sales. With the formation of Derive in 2000, he and his team began building out a comprehensive suite of business solutions. Today, the firm encompasses datacenter design and modernization, cloud computing (private and hybrid), business continuity, virtualization, networking, information security, a plethora of technology support services, and specialty technology for the healthcare vertical.
In addition to his management responsibilities and representing the company in a variety of business development and executive outreach efforts, Mr. Desai is deeply involved in a variety of philanthropic endeavors, directly supporting medical camps and educational charities, plus housing and education outreach for homeless and orphaned children in India. He is a supporter of the Share & Care Foundation, founded in New Jersey by a group of Indian-American business leaders committed to enhancing the quality of life of underprivileged women and children. He also provides support to I Create, Inc., dedicated to providing integrated training and seed money to aspiring entrepreneurs and disadvantaged communities in India.
Mr. Desai holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Oklahoma State University and an MBA in Management from Roosevelt University. He has been a member of the Channel Advisory Boards for both Hewlett-Packard Enterprise and HP, Inc., as well as the Synnex Corporation’s President’s Club, and is a Trustee of the Vraj Hindu Temple of Schuylkill Haven, PA.
Madhu “Roy” Royal
Vice President
Mr. Royal possesses well over two decades of experience in information technology sales and services. He began his career in 1991 supporting Mr. Desai in a variety of roles prior to Derive. Mr. Royal became Derive’s VP of Sales in 2000, where he has directed overall sales operations and on-going customer relationship management, along with aggressively leading the closing of some of the company’s most important client engagements.
Mr. Royal holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the New York Institute of Technology and a Master’s degree from the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
William Rochford
Vice President of Business Development
Mr. Rochford joined the company in 2011 to provide additional solution sales and technology leadership to the dedicated healthcare business unit led by Bill Eggers. He has more than 25 years of experience in technology management and consulting, with extensive knowledge of healthcare technology.
Prior to Derive, Mr. Rochford was Director of Technical Infrastructure for New York’s renowned Mt. Sinai Medical Center, managing the design, development, implementation, risk management, testing, and compliance of clinical information system applications and supporting core IT infrastructure. Before his Mt. Sinai tenure, he was the Director of IT for North Shore LIJ Health System, charged with enterprise-wide management of desktop engineering as well as server and storage management across Windows, UNIX and VMS system platforms.
Previous to his years in healthcare, Mr. Rochford’s career was spent in the energy sector as a Systems Engineer, Manager, and Director of Technology Infrastructure for KeySpan Energy Corporation.
Educated on Long Island, New York, he holds numerous professional and technical certifications.
Keyvan Pourreza
Vice President of Sales
Mr. Pourreza joinedDeriveTechnologies in the role of Vice President of Sales in January 2023.
Possessing more than two decades of experience with cutting edge technologies, services, channel alliances, hospital market analysis, sales strategy development, client partnerships, and team management, Mr. Pourrezahas been instrumental in business development and sales of healthcare IT products and services with strategic partners and some of the largest health systems in the country. AtDerive, he directs overall sales and on-going customer relationship management, along with leading some of the company’s most important client engagements.
With hispassion for delivering innovative technologies and business solutions to customers, Mr. Pourreza's mission is to help both clients and theDerivesales team to succeed. He strengthensDerive’s culture of success throughcore values of innovation, collaboration, excellence, integrity, and respect.
Mr. Pourreza holds an MBA in Management and Marketing from Northeastern University and is a member of the New Jersey, Delaware Valley, and New York HIMSS Chapters.
Steve Weissman
Director of Services
Mr. Weissman has been Derive Technologies’ Director of Services since 2000. Prior to Derive he was General Services Manager – New York Region for MicroAge, Inc.
He is responsible for the delivery of all technology services to Derive’s clients and supports the Chief Technology Officer, Darius Stafford, in developing the company's technical service offerings. Mr. Weissman manages Derive’s professional services team, overseeing more than [[need a number here]] professionals in supporting its technology engagements and meeting all contractual commitments. He also manages internal technology and pre-sales IT consulting needs, and ensuring that all members of the company receive required technical certifications.
Under Mr. Weissman’s direction, Derive has implemented a comprehensive technology services program, including an escalation process that enables complex problems to be addressed and solved quickly and efficiently. He also launched a full-scale managed service provider (MSP) program encompassing network and data monitoring solutions, plus remote and on-site technical problem remediation.
Mr. Weissman holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Brooklyn College. In addition to achieving master-level certification with all of Derive’s major technology alliance partners, he has completed advanced Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification for Information Technology Services Management (ITSM), Information Technology (IT) development and IT operations. He is also CompTIA certified.
Lawrence Marcus
President & Chief Operating Officer
Derive Technologies’ President and Chief Operating Officer since 2000, Mr. Marcus is responsible for the firm’s day-to-day operations and, in concert with other executive management team members, setting strategic goals and objectives.
With a wide portfolio of responsibilities, he focuses much time on ensuring that Derive’s team members have the resources they need to pursue new business and satisfy the needs of existing customers. Mr. Marcus has specified the functionality and managed the implementation of software systems to streamline various Derive sales and workflow processes for greater levels of efficiency. These efforts, spanning centralized accounting, billing, and service tracking systems, have improved control over expenditures, simplified customer quoting processes, and enhanced account receivables throughput.
Mr. Marcus oversaw the recent implementation and directs the use of a Microsoft Dynamics-based enterprise resource management (ERP) suite for Derive’s internal operational needs, which also serves as a model for solutions provided by Derive to many of the company’s clients.
Prior to Derive, he was Regional Director of Operations for MicroAge, Inc., a Fortune 500 company.
Luis Zea
Director of Marketing
Mr. Zea joined Derive in 2019 and is responsible for the company’s strategic marketing operations and managing external marketing resources.
He has more than 25 years of overall B2B marketing experience in financial software (SaaS products) serving institutional banks and their capital marketing operations, and hedge funds, with particular emphasis on lead and demand generation, positioning, and implementing marketing and sales support functions. Mr. Zea is highly knowledgeable regarding go-to-market strategy, business development, digital marketing, field and event marketing, PR, marketing communications tools, social media, and website communications. His hands-on background spans start-ups, successful IPOs, and Fortune 100 corporations (Citicorp).
He studied Computer Science at Fordham University and completed professional certifications in Fixed Income Market and Derivatives Instruments at the New York Institute of Finance.
