Storage

Derive Technologies™ offers a comprehensive portfolio of data, application and other IT storage solutions to meet the demands of today’s adaptive enterprise. We take a consultative, 360-degree service-oriented approach to sourcing – including cost-effective purchasing and leasing options – implementing, and supporting storage technologies, focused on your requirements for seamless, continuous access to critical business information.

In the words of our Tier One Alliance Partner, Hewlett Packard® (HP®), “Virtual and cloud environments are unpredictable and demand the highest levels of agility AND efficiency. Legacy storage was not built for unpredictability. To fully benefit from virtual and cloud computing, organizations must move to modern converged storage designed for new requirements.” These requirements include the support of data and applications run, stored, and delivered in legacy data centers and in the paradigm of virtualization, virtual offices and the cloud.

According to HP, today’s converged storage, “enables solutions architected from federated, scale-out storage software.” These services are delivered on server hardware, including the industry-leading HP ProLiant® and HP BladeSystem® hardware, “managed,” as HP explains “with converged storage, server, and networking orchestration.” HP’s statistics show that this approach enables Derive’s customers to:

  1. “Scale storage 41% faster”

  2. “Reduce IT service delivery time to minutes”

  3. "Spend up to 90% less time managing storage”

  4. “Cut power, cooling, & floorspace in half”

Disk Storage Systems

Derive, HP and our other technology alliance partners provide a complete suite of services surrounding disk storage systems.  We lead with HP’s federated Tier 1 storage solutions that enable, according to HP:

  1. "Always-on availability, massive scalability and unparalleled performance for the most demanding environments”

  2. “Powerfully simple management for mid-range arrays, NAS, tiered storage and disk-to-disk backup”

  3. “Easy-to-use, affordable and reliable networked storage for small and medium businesses”

As HP describes it, the benefits of today’s federated storage to Derive’s corporate, government and other public sector customers, is that it allows them to:

  1. “Consolidate unpredictable workloads non-disruptively onto a single storage system.”

  2. “Fluidly transition data and workloads between storage systems non-disruptively.”

  3. “Boost ROI with industry-leading thin technologies that allow data to start thin, get thin and stay thin. No more wasted space.”

  4. “Autonomically load balance data with a single click.”

These systems bring the power and efficiency needed to let our clients move to virtualization and the cloud at rapid speed and at the most efficient possible cost.

Network Attached Storage (NAS) Systems

Our customers face, in HP’s words, “Rapid file storage growth, driven by rich media, document and backup files and email.” For many corporate, government and public sector enterprises, consolidation with, as HP explains, “a dedicated Network Attached Storage (NAS) solution can help you address your changing file serving needs and reduce your cost of ownership by enabling simplified management, better resource utilization, and centralized growth and data protection.” Our NAS solutions provide, according to HP:

  1. “Easy-to-use industry standard file and print solutions”

  2. “High-performance clustered NAS with no single points of failure”

  3. And they, “increase file serving performance, lower costs and centralize management"

As HP puts it, with NAS, “No matter your file or unified storage need,” Derive, HP and our other partners, “have the answer.”

Tape Storage and Media

We recognize the flexibility, the cost and business efficiency, and the security advantages of tape storage and media solutions for our customers. According to our partner, HP, tape solutions enable, “enormous scalability to keep pace with unpredictable data growth. Choose from a range of base configurations and scale up to over 5000 tape cartridges in increments of 100 slots for capacity on demand. Incorporating between 1 and 96 tape drives, you can consolidate and store up to 15PB (compressed 2:1) of enterprise data.”

With HP and others, we bring to corporate, government and other public sector enterprises a “Comprehensive range of reliable, cost-effective data protection solutions.” These include:

  1. “Tape Libraries and Autoloaders to free up IT resources and minimize the risk of human error”

  2. “Complete, ready-to-use backup solutions featuring DAT, DLT and LTO tape drives with One-Button-Disaster-Recovery”

Storage Networking

Derive collaborates with HP, the “worldwide leader in storage area networks products and solutions,” and Cisco®, Microsoft®, and others to deliver comprehensive storage networking solutions. According to HP, this provides “flexible, open, standards-based storage infrastructure solutions to enable your Adaptive Infrastructure.”

These solutions include, in HP’s words:

  1. “Multi-protocol SAN routers and gateways to simplify SAN extension and new technology integration”

  2. "Flexible, modular director level switches”

  3. “SAN fabric connectivity for unmatched performance, reliability and interoperability”

Storage Virtualization

In addition to traditional storage networking architecture, Derive supports advanced solutions for storage virtualization. Storage virtualization, as HP describes it, is “Targeted at enterprise and mid-size firms that are experiencing significant storage growth,” which helps Derive’s customers to, “improve efficiency, simplify operations and lower TCO.”

Storage virtualization enables, in HP’s words, “centrally managed storage pooling and virtual volume provisioning” that provides “high scalability, top performance, and high availability of all SAN resources while also bringing substantial improvements to managing enterprise storage, reducing costs and improving asset utilization.” Also bolstering the storage virtualization paradigm are, as HP puts it, “a comprehensive set of data services including volume management, data migration, copy services (clones and snapshots), synchronous and asynchronous mirroring and thin provisioning.”

Storage Software

Derive provides, with HP, “standards-built software that supports heterogeneous storage, as well as software that adds value” to all storage hardware. In HP’s words, storage software enables us to help our customers to “Reduce costs, simplify storage infrastructure, protect vital assets, and respond faster to business opportunity”

Examples of storage software fully configured by Derive, provided by HP and others are, according to HP:

  1. Storage Virtualization Software

  2. Data Protection and Recovery Software

  3. Data Archive and Migration Software

  4. Storage Resource Management Software (SRM)

  5. Storage Replication Software

  6. Storage Device Management Software

This enables our customers to:

  1. "Manage: Device management software for storage reporting, monitoring, and provisioning”

  2. Protect: Software for data protection and disaster tolerance”

  3. Optimize: Software to improve performance, reduce costs and achieve compliance”
